Horse: Uncategorized - June 25th, 2010

Hay Timing …

Horse: Uncategorized - June 25th, 2010

We’ve had the driest Spring ever and farmer’s all over the valley have been tearing their hair out over the grass not growing. Lucky for us we had a fine crop and our first cut for haylage was dropped and picked without so much as a threatening drizzle to slow us down – PHEW!

The bales are all beautifully stacked and the horses can’t wait to get their nashers round it!

Horse Walker in action …

Horse: Uncategorized - June 25th, 2010

A couple of months on and the guys are still loving the horse walker. We can see a difference in their muscle tone and fitness an excellent addition to the yard. We’re not quite sure how we managed without it!

They’re in it twice a day – Big Bob in paticular just can’t get enough of it!

Have a look at the video below to see it in full swing …

Horse Walker in Action …

Horse Walker!

Horse: Uncategorized - May 24th, 2010

On 27th April the horse walker was installed and up and running.

After many hours hard slog – shuttering – concreting – hard coring – digging etc. etc. the horse walker boys came in and made the erection look easy they had it up and running in a grand total of 2 days! The horses have taken to it like a dream and we are seeing the benefits already.

We’ve even done a couple of laps in it ourselves – not that funny at the time!

Louis’ 3 weeks of training are up and D day arrived. Deal or No Deal … deal of course! She loves him – he’s worked for her, she’s bossed him and they will go far! Good luck to them both and watch this space!

Woohoo we’re in Week 3!

Horse: Uncategorized - January 27th, 2010

Louis is embarking on his 3rd and final week of training and is doing splendidly!

His possible owner to be is doing equally well, she is confident and eager and has certainly learned to boss Louis! There have been no falls to date (touch wood) and she has sat out any tantrums that were over quickly. Louis is learning bit by bit and is showing true potential to be an excellent horse.

His carraige is graceful and natural and his balance is improving with each session. He has been worked on both reins, both on the lunge and ridden, jumped and his flat work is getting really good.

He is becoming more of a character and is eager to go out and play! He gets brushed every day ( generally standing still)  is building up his muscle tone  and putting on weight – in fact he is altogether looking good!

Big Bob back in action!

Horse: Uncategorized, Bob - B. Grandeur - January 22nd, 2010

This week Bob has been out every day and my goodness has it improved his attitude to life! His temperant has improved greatly because bless him he must have been bored!

To start with he didn’t go far before he was brought back to his box in disgrace – and to get a bridle (rather than a headcollar) but he improved  the second time!

He has now progressed to making it all the way to the school and being worked while he’s in there! His leg looks way better and he is actually enjoying himself!
