Lakeland Equestrian Stud Farm is a small family run stud situated in the heart of the Lake District. The Stud is a fairly new business founded in 2010, developed with a passion for breeding top quality sport horses, using both mares and stallions that are from proven backgrounds.
At Lakeland Equestrian, using advanced AI techniques available to sport horses, we choose from the very best Sports Horses worldwide. Lakeland Stud believes that it is just as important that the mare is from equal quality breeding as the Stallion.
Our aim is to breed top quality, athletic horses from proven or graded mares using the best bloodlines and World Class sires. We are very proud of our valuable broodmares, many of which are imported for their performance and bloodlines, contributing massively to the future potential of the foal. We want to produce world class horses that not only move well, but also show athleticism over fences and above all have a good temperament for rideability, so as to suit all levels of rider.
Dianadra a 3 year old that we have put into foal by Nonstop, This is particularly exciting as we purchased one of the last straws of Nonstop semen so fingers crossed she produces a colt that we can keep entire.
Nonstop was most successful as a Derby’s and Puissance winner but his offspring have proven to be successful in the showjumping world.
(Above: Picture of Non-Stop)
Nonstop is bred in the purple. His father Darco is the WBFSH top producer of jumping horses for the 3rd year in a row. Darco is father to such great competition horses as Otterongo, Parco, Sapphire, Coriana, Winningmood… and so many more.
Nonstop’s Holstein damline is surely one of the best in the world – producing horses such as Carthargo, Canturo, Coster (European Champion), Feinschnitt, Faust Z.
In sport, Nonstop rode first with Nelson and Rodrigo Pessoa (in 98, he had wins at Valkenward and Hamburg) and then under Toni Hassman. He was a Puissance and Derby specialist, winnning the Puissance in Neustadt-Dosse in 2002. Yet as a sire he has been most remarkable, producing Ulysse – Swiss Champion, winner of the La Baule Derby and the Grand Prix of Flasterbo and no 2 horse in the world 2010; Amai, winner of the 4* Verona GP and 2nd in the Masters and GP of Antwerp (under Michael Whitaker); Denis Lynch’s GP horse Abbervail; and Robert Smith’s Vangelis.
At his keuring, the Belgian Non-Stop achieved the highest score for free jumping of 27/30. As a four year old he was first in the Classic Cycle. At five he was successful in the world championships at Zangersheide and at six was sixth in the St. Lo in France. Since 1997 he has been ridden by Nelson Pessoa and was seventh in Ascona, Italy. He was first and second in the qualifying rounds of the prestigious Hamburg Jumping Derby. In 2000 Non-Stop took a break for breeding duties and his oldest offspring are now seven years of age, and performing with great ability. With a sire index in jumping of 183.4, Non-Stop appears poised for a stellar career as a sire. This young jumping horse and leading sire, is third on the list of the ten best sires of jumping horses, based upon sire production indexes. When one considers the linebreeding to Ladykiller xx, Cottage Son xx and Der Lowe xx which inundate the pedigree with the very best of sport horse blood, it should be no surprise. His Belgian sire Darco, a grandson of Lugano, is a well-respected international-caliber sire. Non-Stop's dam is rich in top Holsteiner jumping blood, including Lord and Cor de la Bryere, who are her two grandsires.

Caletto I was approved in Neumünster in 1977 and passed his performance test at Medingen the following year. He was "tall, important sire with the smooth topline of a modern riding horse. Good trot, absolutely marvelous canter and extraordinary jumping ability with fantastic form over fences." Caletto I had almost completed his breeding duties for his third season, when he was kicked by a mare in the genitals, and despite the best of veterinary attention remained infertile for months afterwards. The Holsteiner Verband sold him to the showjumping rider, Michael Rüping and he went on to earn DM 101,693, as well as a team bronze at the 1983 European Championships. In 1985, Caletto I was the most successful German Nation's Cup horse. But then his little brother Caletto II was killed in an accident. The distraught Holstein breeding authorities contacted Michael Rüping and persuaded him to test Caletto I once again - after a break of five years, the stallion was now producing fertile semen! Caletto I resumed his successful breeding career in 1986 and in the 1991-2000 WBFSH standings was represented by 12 progeny who had taken him into 28th place - finishing 5th in the 1999/2000 standings.
