What’s Bob been up to …

Horse: Bob - B. Grandeur - February 4th, 2011

Boib has had a nice and varied week so far ..

He went for a nice relaxing hack yesterday taking in the Lake District fells which always keeps him happy.

Wednesday being ‘Jumping night’ we went for a trip up to Greenlands EC where he did well. He was entered into 95cm and 1.05m classes – 95cm wasn’t his forte as he refused one of the scarier looking fences (he is only a baby). The second class he came into his own and put on a good show. He well cleared most the course with a nice steady pace but unfortunately got an ‘unlucky’ (as phrased by the commentator) 4 faults which, after much deliberation, was put down to rider error (oops!)

Tuesday was his hacking day again, a nice steady walk out.

Monday was a flatwork day in the arena where he did well.

Today we are meant to be building a course in the school to put him through his paces, but, unfortunately being in the Lake District means we are often afflicted with severe weather warnings and today happens to be rain and gale force winds! There is little chance of the fences staying up regardless of Bob’s performance so we will just have to wait for the storm to die down …

Murphy’s Resting …

Horse: Murphy - Diamond Discovery - February 4th, 2011

Murphy is going to be having a rest for the next couple of months so the only updates from him will be of his cheeky (but generally a good boy) stable behaviour …

Being a Big Brother …

Horse: Mr Grey - February 4th, 2011

As the ultimate role model and the one who is most likely to behave himself, yesterday Gray accompanied Poppy one her first EVER hack out. He proved himself a little superstar and performed his big brotherly/looking after/reassurance/company duties to his upmost ability!

He even went to the extent of being the proud carrier of ‘Gray-Cam’ and got some good if not a little wobbly footage of Poppy strutting her stuff. it all goes ok until we have alittle trot at which point it makes you feel a bit sea sick!!

Brandy – loose jumping

Horse: Uncategorized - February 4th, 2011

Brandy this week has mainly been running around in is very own, waterproof hi-vis jacket due to the poor wether conditions! He has found sleeping a much more enjoyable way to spend his days. He has unfortunately been banned from all titbits as his waistline is expanding to quickly and he is going on an ‘eat less/move more diet’ … bless him.

Here is one way he has been exercising this week …

Poppy this week

Horse: Poppy - February 4th, 2011

Poppy is going from strength to strength and has been ridden every day. She is coming on in leaps and bounds and this week has been cantered under the saddle.

She remains calm, gentle and willing to cooperate despite the most definitely gale-force winds that were thrown on her this morning! She is sleeping now – Poppy seems to be the most proficient horse on the yard at ‘power-napping’ – good on her is what i say must get it from her owner!

Here’s another video of her taking part in one of her favourite activities yesterday – loose jumping …

Please pay paticular attention to the speed demon that calls himself Brandy (the Jack Russell) …

Welcome to England …

Horse: Poppy - February 4th, 2011

Poppy arrived with us at the end of September from Ireland. What a treat she had yesterday she finally got to see what England looks like! She was taken out on a hack with Gray yesterday and what a little star she was.

Despite the not quite gale force winds she behaved impeccably, they did a good couple of miles and she really enjoyed herself. This girl continues to surprise us with how well she takes on any challenge …

Have a look for yourself at the videos – sorry about the wobble factor the footage came from ‘Gray – Cam’!

Who’s the Daddy …

Horse: Bob - B. Grandeur, Jellybean - Unique V - February 2nd, 2011

Its not that we’ve been keeping it at secret simply that we forgot to tell you that the proud father to be of our Jellybean’s baby is none other than our very own … Big Bob!

Combine the genes from our most handsome-scopey-gentle (at the moment) jumping machine with the sweet natured – loveable- floats on air when she trots lady and my word are we hoping for a baby super star!

My project for the week is to photoshop our parents together and give us an idea of what the new foal ‘Jellybaby’ might look like!! If any body else wants a go these are the parents …

Poppy Progress …

Horse: Poppy - January 26th, 2011

Poppy is going from strength to strength and is being ridden in the school daily. She is enjoying work and showing real potential.

We are lucky enough to have a round pen with a Martin Collins surface which the horses love for a good roll!

Here is Poppy showing off her skills with a bit of loose jumping, watch that pop!!

Loose jumping – what a pop …

Not only is she coming along nicely under the saddle she has been fantastic to handle in the stable. She is quiet, well mannered and very affectionate below is a video showing how calm she is having her feet picked up – followed by another one of those loose jumping pops!

What a good lass!

What’s Jelly baby been doing …

Horse: Jellybean - Unique V - January 26th, 2011

Jellybean is now around 225 days pregnant and bless her cotton socks is looking fab, she is all shiny and healthy, she is most definitely blooming …

trouble is pregnancy meand there’s nothing much to do. This week has mainly consisted of going out in the field with her bessy mate Bolli ..

Can you see her Jelly Belly under that rug??

The foal is still about the size of a beagle and for anybody that wants to make comparisons with other small animals that is abut 19cm long and weighs in at 25lb …
