Poppy was the star of the show

Poppy was a real star on her first outing to our local show, it was on grass and she had her first go at wearing studs, the warm up area was very open but she behaved impeccably, She jumped 90cm and 1mtr classes which included some scary wales and spooky fillers, she didnt hesitate at any of the fences, she got one down and was a little tired at the end but admired by many as she is very pretty.

Unfortunately after videoing the childrens classes my video rang out of battery but at least I got her in the warm up area!

Poor little Robbie

It is final on Wednesday Robbie will loose the two things he is quite attached to. He will be a little sad for a few days but we will pamper him to try and take his mind off the job!

Bailey S competed well at the weekend at our local BSJ area 14a show, he went double clear in the Newcomers class getting a little excited over the water jumps nearly unseating his rider with his huge jump, He is getting a bit cheeky in the Newcomers class and is ready for a bit bigger fence to give him more to think about, he is such a love able horse who loves to made a fuss of, it takes you twice as long to put a rug on or muck out as he demands kisses and nussels you to death.

Mr Grey Training programe

Mr Grey has been put through his paces getting him fit for the start of the season, we all know he has the ability to be a good athletic show jumper. He has been working on his flat work to help with his jumping.

His natural quick reaction to the fence is great for clearing poles but he is a little quick when it comes to water trays!

He is ready for his Newcomers class which he can clear the height with ease BUT he just ain’t to sure about those water trays, he slept with them had his dinner off one stepped over them, but come to jump one and it all brand new again!

Matthew has been working with him on a daily bases and what ever the training he will include a water tray at some stage then move off it ( we have blue ones, black ones plastic ones and wooden ones)

Dressage Lesson for Miss Rolo

It managed to keep dry while Miss Rolo and Faye enjoyed their workout in their flat work lesson with Melanie Turner.

As always Mel puts them through their paces with more discipline and sharper movements, Leg yielding aiming for that bigger step through that Miss Rolo just is not to keen on doing, after a little gentle persuasion and showing a little temper Rolo found her stride she can do it she just prefers not to!

It makes good home work.

THIRD show and THIRD Win

There’s nothing better than winning on home ground and it was a well deserved win beating the second place by 7 seconds

Poppy Training

Poppy went to her first show on Wednesday to Richmond, She was extremely brave jumping, walls and some quite scary fences, she did have one run out but only because it was a double and she jumped to big into it and then just panicked a little. Matthew was very pleased with her and looks forward to her next show on Sunday.

Poppy is showing great potential, She is very earger to please a little quicky, but show loads of scope with a powerful Jump

Exciting new purchase for Lakeland Equestrian

We are delighted with the purchase from Millfield Stud of our new broodmare Diandra. She is a 3 year old out of Diaradro sire and Sawara dam, She makes great breeding to become and produce great quality sport horses.

She was awarded a very high first premium with a score of 8.75 at the BEF Futurity and was Champion show jumping foal. She will be retained by the stud. She has won the yearling class at the 2010 SHGB Spring Breeders show at Myerscough.

We have chosen Non Stop out of Darco to cover her which will give us something very special, should it be a colt we will keep him as a stallion at Lakeland Equestrian.

She is currently be covered at Millfield Stud and will join us in a few weeks.

Faye and Miss Rolo headed off to a rainy very stormy Church Farm yesterday, saddly they got one down in the British Novice (which they blamed on the wind) but then come first in the discovery,how fantastic second show of the season to have a second win.
